The Thai siblings are enjoying continued success at the top international level, with Ariya or Pro May, as she is also known, ranked as No.1 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and already the holder of 7 LPGA Tour victories. Moriya or Pro Mo is quickly making her way up the world rankings, having risen from 84thto 21st position in the 2017 season and earning herself eight Top Ten finishes along the way.
Mr. Santi Chudintra, TAT Deputy Governor for Asia and South Pacific Market, said: “Pro May and Pro Mo are doing themselves and Thailand extremely proud on the global golf stage. They are perfect as ‘Thailand Golf Ambassadors’ to enhance international awareness of Thailand as a world-class golf destination with fantastic courses and facilities.”
In addition to their tournaments, the sisters also participate in major golfing events the world over to help spread the word about golfing and sports tourism in Thailand.
Among the tournaments coming up for Pro May and Pro Mo is the ‘Honda LPGA Thailand 2018’ from 22-25 February at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course. This has become a high-profile and popular tournament among the world’s best women golfers, and in 2018 a 60-strong field will be competing for a prize purse of US$ 1.6 million. The event will be broadcast to over 31 countries, reaching 500 million households.
Apart from discussing about golf experiences in Thailand in terms of their readiness for the competition, Pro Mo and Pro May introduced the Michelin Bangkok Guide as the ‘Golf & Gourmet’ that players can enjoy after-games activities in Thailand.
TAT also organises the annual Thailand Golf Travel Mart as a B2B platform for worldwide buyers and Thai sellers to meet, with over 150 buyers from 32 countries attending the 2017 event held during 25-28 July.
For Korean agents, TAT is offering golf package and sales support with the ‘2018 Amazing Thailand Winter Golf Paradise Promotion’ for the period of 1 December, 2017, to 31 March, 2018.
