27 roads around Sanam Luang closed this weekend

Roads leading to Sanam Luang and the Grand Palace will be closed on Saturday and Sunday to make it easier for mourners to pay respect to the late King Bhumibol and people attending graduation ceremonies at Thammasat University.

Pol Maj Gen Songpol Wattanachai, deputy police spokesman, said the closure would affect 27 roads, similar to the traffic management plan last week. On Friday, vehicles would also be barred from entering Thammasat University, to facilitate cleaning prior to the graduation ceremonies over the weekend. 

on Saturday urged mourners to go to Sanam Luang by shuttle buses or other public transport. If necessary, motorists were advised to park their vehicles at nine locations outside the inner areas and then take shuttle buses from there.

Those locations are:

  • Impact Muang Thong Thani,
  • Future Park Rangsit shopping mall,
  • Phutthamonthon area,
  • Central Salaya shopping mall,
  • Central Rama II shopping mall,
  • Mega Bangna shopping mall, and
  • Central Plaza Westgate. 

They could also park their vehicles at the Police Club and Airport Link’s parking areas. All of these parking venues have free shuttle bus services to Sanam Luang.
